Matthew Corp – Club Coach

Matthew Corp started playing tennis at the age of 7 at Sutton Hard Courts (Sutton Coldfield) and progressed through the stages of short tennis to Junior tennis where he then moved to Solihull at the age of 11.

Matthew now 27 has entered many high grade tournaments over the years and has been very successful. The former Tudor Grange student decided that tennis coaching would be the path he would take.

After graduating in 2007 with a BA Honours in Sport Studies, the position of Club coach came available at Solihull Tennis Club and the opportunity to build his own tennis programme was too good to miss out on.

Matthew has also coached at various other venues including Billesley Tennis Centre and was Principal Tennis Coach for Coventry City Council for over a year.

Matthew is also the Head Coach for Beechcroft Tennis Club http://www.beechcrofttennisclub.co.uk/

A spokesman for the Marsh lane club said

“Matthew has a way of bringing the best out of the youngsters, We offered Matthew the position of Club Coach because of his fine reputation”

Matthew is hoping to increase the numbers of youngsters at the club as well as introducing an adult coaching programme.

“I like to introduce some fun activities, and see youngsters enjoying themselves. Its not all about the serious stuff”

Aside from his Tennis, Matthew is a keen sportsman and when he is not playing or coaching tennis he is playing football or watching his beloved football team Aston Villa.

Matthew has also travelled around Australia for several months where he was able to help with some coaching at some local clubs and gain more knowledge and experience.  Matthew was to watch the Australian Open on his travels and visit the Rod Laver Arena.
